Crit Feedback

After discussing with Eve over the past couple of days and hoping to decided on a new focus within my summer brief, we finally came to a conclusion. Eve really liked my theme of the olympics that I was researching and some of my photo's from last weeks visit.

I also expressed my concerns that I am about to go away for 3 weeks and would lose a lot of time that I could really use right now to help me focus on my work. I voiced my initial idea's to Eve, which was to research into the eco-friendly side of the olympics and re-design a welcome pack, just like the one I received, yet this would have an eco-friendly format and focus. Eve suggested that I could then produce something for the Paralympics that will take place in a couple of weeks, this would give my project more of a purpose.

She then suggested that I could look into athletes that have succeeded and done well in the 2012 olympics. I really liked this idea, and although I initially wanted to take more of a 'hand-drawn' approach to the brief, I felt that this didn't suit previous olympics styles and would be more suited to a future brief throughout second year where I could experiment with the new style within my work.

My new focus is to produce a newspaper based around the 2012 London olympic games, documenting Britain's success along the way and focusing on Athletes who have excelled and worked hard training over the past 4 years. I have looked into the newspaperclub.com and their requirements for printing and will base my newspaper around these specific weightings and measurements to make it easier for printing purposes.

Now I have a new focus I feel motivated to progress with my work and hope that whilst i'm away in England camping next week I can create some initial designs as a basis for my newspaper before refining this after I come back from Cape Verde in three weeks time ready for print. After I have conducted some new initial research based on the previous documentaries I watched about 'Tom Daley' and 'Victoria Pendleton' I will review my progress with my timeline I created at the beginning of summer.
